“Star Trek” Day Celebration
Calling all “Star Trek” fans! Celebrate the 60th anniversary with us at Zollinger Library with a weeklong event. Beginning Sept. 8, take part in our scavenger hunt to find the lost tribbles in the library. Also on Sept. 8, wear your favorite "Star Trek” gear and join us for snacks and videos at 4 p.m. in the library atrium.
Rising Writers
Zollinger Library will host the New Mexico Rising Writers Program in the library conference room from 5 p.m.-6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 9. If you are interested in writing, this is your chance to chat with an established writer and engage in discussion. Navajo Poet Laureate Jake Skeets and writer illustrator Zahra Marwan will be here to lead this session. Registration is required and free. Mexican Independence Day
Celebrate Mexican Independence Day with Zollinger Library beginning at 4 p.m. Wednesday Sept. 16. We will screen the documentary “Celebrating Hispanic Voices,” a video that features Hispanic authors and how they share culture and identity in their writing. We will also enjoy some Mexican delights. Hurry while supplies last.
Pirate Day Argh!
Take part in International Talk Like a Pirate Day at Zollinger Library on Friday Sept. 18. Answer pirate trivia questions and win a chance to loot our pirate chest. Enjoy pirate talk and our pirate challenge for a special swashbuckling treat.
Author Talk – Wandering New Mexico
Zollinger library will host David Ryan, author of the book “Wandering in the Clear Light of New Mexico,” at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 23. Ryan will look at the many special places that you can only find in New Mexico and many that are only a short drive away from 91. Ryan moved from Chicago to New Mexico in 1998 after completing the 2,180-mile-long Appalachian Trail. His time in New Mexico has been spent wandering and exploring every corner of our state.
September Films
During the month of September, Zollinger Library will screen a random assortment of films. Join us at 4 p.m. every Thursday in the conference room for films for everyone. We have fun, action, fantasy, thrills, and laughs. Popcorn will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis.
